How to Introduce Exercise into Your Weekly Schedule

We all know by now that maintaining an active lifestyle should be one of our top priorities in life. Only by taking care of ourselves do we stand a chance of being the kind of person we strive to be on the job, at home with our loved ones, and in our communities. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Work can get in the way of working out. In fact, there is a big paradox going on: On one hand, we struggle to find the time to work out; on the other, we can’t afford to not exercise because it is essential to sustained success.

With that in mind, here are some tips to introduce exercise into your weekly schedule:

Have a support system
It is extremely helpful to have a support system on your fitness journey. A support system keeps you accountable and committed to your workout schedule. Our classes at PHF help provide you that support system without much effort! When you sign up to take a class, you also get access to a private class message thread designed to encourage and inspire you. If you ever have any questions, or need help staying on track, you have a dedicated group to help you. You are never alone, there is always someone there asking how you are doing in your journey, and there to train with you.

Make your exercise schedule a habit
It’s always said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. You want to make your exercise schedule a habit or a part of your daily life. This is one of the best habits you will ever have. To help create that habit, try writing your class time down on a post-it note and sticking it to your bathroom mirror. That way your mind will be aware that the plan for that day also includes exercise. Eventually, it will just become second nature, and your day won’t feel complete until you’ve done your workout. You start to see the benefits almost immediately, and our coaches at the gym will help keep you in line every step of the way.

Quit making excuses
To introduce exercise to your weekly schedule, quit making excuses. Create time for exercise because you have that time. Do you sit for 9 hours a day for work, and then go home to sit for the remainder of your evening? Then you have the time to work out! Just an hour at PHF will get your blood pumping! The results will come in time, and with patience. No excuses! See you at your next class!
